Borough Officially Opens Piping Rock Park

Piping Rock Park Baseball Field

The Borough officially opened Piping Rock Park in September, following the completion of the major renovation Project. Rumson Recreation’s Kindergarten Soccer Clinic at Martello Field near the expanded parking lot off of East River Road kicked off the fall 2019 season.

“The ability for us to reopen our park for the public and borough recreation programs is very exciting,” Rumson Mayor Joseph K. Hemphill said. “We have put a great amount of work, energy and resources into renovating Piping Rock Park, and are pleased with the efforts.”

With the official opening, the Recreation Department activated the park’s multi-purpose fields with its weekly fall soccer program for the town’s participating first through eighth graders.

“Our recreation program has more than 4,000 annual participants, so our parks are an incredible town resource,” Borough of Rumson Administrator & Municipal Clerk Thomas S. Rogers said. “With Piping Rock now opened, both the multi-purpose natural grass and Martello fields will be utilized daily for training and weekend play this fall.”

The Piping Rock Park project, which began in 2018, includes a reconstructed baseball/softball field featuring the relocated KDM 9/11 Memorial, natural grass, multi-purpose fields, and a new playground area.
