Coach Cal Takes Camp Day Trip To Hawaii

At least it felt like Hawaii in the RFHHS Gym this past Wednesday. Coach Cal and his amazing staff did a tremendous job blending fun with learning the sport of basketball.

Wednesday’s theme day was Hawaii Day and the student-athletes were dressed festively in leis, Hawaiian shirts and even some grass skirts. It proved to be a fun addition to an already awesome camp.

Throughout the week, the campers have learned all about rebounding, ball-handling, dribbling, passing and scoring buckets. The staff has been impressed with the display of sportsmanship, hustle and energy displayed by these young women from Rumson and Fair Haven. One theme on display was the idea of togetherness, often shown as Coach would yell and clap “Together” followed by the same response from the girls. Togetherness is a theme for both the RFH boys and girls programs and it speaks volumes to the sense of community pride the programs have.

The camp wraps up on July 20th, but many campers are looking forward to another exciting week as session 2 kicks off on July 31st.
