Watch out Renaldo and Messi; The parents of Rumson soccer players took to the pitch this past Saturday for the annual parents game and it certainly did not disappoint. The friendly confines of the RFHHS lower turf field played host to a quickly paced match-up and a battle for the ages.
“Stone Cold” Steve Schroeder had the goal of the day with a long range blast early in the match. Equally impressive was JR, who ran circles around his younger competition.
Simon Jewkes also put forth a Tottenham-worthy effort and also gets the weekend MVP award for running in the Dawg Dash 5k on Sunday.
The Kliewe Quartet showed their soccer excellence throughout the game, with Raven and Avery showing the speed and footwork of champions. The Moss duo continued to impress throughout the game as well.
Kudos to special guest referee Daisen Iwan, who kept the Red Cards to a minimum and kept all the players out of the hospital.
It was a great run and game balls all around go out to all the players and spectators. More importantly, in true Rumson fashion, the group displayed wonderful generosity as we gathered lots of donations for families in need.
Thank you to Anna-Bain Reynnolds for the photos.
