Led by Coach Cal and Coach Shempy, RFH had 3 incredible weeks of basketball camps this Summer!
Our girls campers were the first to step foot on the newly renovated #RFH High School gym floors and they did so in impressive fashion. Coach Dave Callahan, known to the world simply as Coach Cal, organized four, fun-filled days of basketball training. With help from more than a dozen high school basketball players, the campers had fun from tip-off, through the final buzzer. The gym was filled with pop music and quality fundamentals as the girls enhanced their dribbling, shooting, passing and defensive skills.
Coach Shempy didn’t miss a beat as his camp got underway on August 2. Shempy and his #RFH boys basketball players mixed in lots of drills, with some fun and games as well. There was even a contest that the groups worked on to come up with the best routine. #RFH sensation Markus Brown teamed up with rising star, 9-year old Jack Shorr to WOW the crowd with back to back slam dunks. Markus with a reverse Jam and Jack with a little assist from his partner to dunk it home.
Future WNBA star Lyla McGinn remarked:
“This is really, really fun. I like the basketball and the games, dances & skits.”
Local basketball legend Jack Kremin agreed:
“The basketball part is great and its fun to do the other stuff too.”
Both Coach Shempy and Coach Cal deserve a pat on the back for their efforts in making the camps both fun and instructional. Be sure to come out this season to the friendly confines of the RFH gym to cheer on these teams as they pursue the tradition of #RFH greatness on the court.
