Rumson, NJ - The Rumson community truly came together to create a great end of the season celebration for our Spring 2021 T-Ball squads this past Saturday at Riverside Park.
Most importantly, the players were incredible. Donning their eye black and pristine MLB uniforms, members of the A’s, Yankees, Mets, Orioles, Pirates and Nationals all had tremendous performances at the plate, in the field and at the pitching competition. The little sluggers really stepped up throughout the season and it was wonderful to see the noticeable improvement since opening day.
The event kicked off with an unforgettable rendition of the National Anthem thanks to the vocal excellence of local mini-celebrity Grace McOrmond. That was followed up by the ceremonial first pitches, which was thrown out by three of Rumson’s finest from Rumson PD.
Nick and Allison Thoms led an enthusiastic bunch of parent volunteers throughout the day, ensuring the players had a blast. Several amazing parents served as the PA announcers to give the event that 'Big-League' feel. Special thanks to Tessa Walz, who served as the official event photographer, capturing tons of images of the future superstars smiling ear-to-ear. In addition, members of the TRLL Rumson Giants and Dodgers made a cameo appearance to help coach their much younger counterparts.
As a token of appreciation for their hard work, the MVP T-ballers were given a special Rumson baseball hat to commemorate John Caruso. John was a great person, a founding member of Two River Little League (where your kids will play in the future) and a huge advocate for youth in our community. He would do anything to ensure local children got to enjoy the sport of baseball.
And what better way to cap off a great day of baseball than by enjoying some delicious ice cream! Thanks to the Salerno’s, all of our athletes got to enjoy a delicious treat to celebrate the season.
Making events like this sizzle takes a team effort and the Rumson families came up in a big way. Parents, coaches, siblings and the PD all deserve a pat on the back for helping out. As for the players, its time for a well-deserved offseason. Its an opportunity to take a break from baseball, re-negotiate their contracts and come back next Spring for another great year of baseball.
Please enjoy the phots below courtesy of Tessa Walz!
