Tim Blommestein Blasts Through The Rumson 100 Mile Club!

Tim Blommestein is a Rumson resident, proud father and dedicated husband. You can add RUMSON 100 MILE CLUB MEMBER to that impressive list.

Tim notched the prestigious achievement recording his 100th mile on a 5-mile trek through the friendly confines of Meadow Ridge on a Christmas Eve scamper.

Tim’s running resume is quite impressive. He has completed the 2015 NYC Marathon, the running leg of an Ironman relay as well as a ton of half marathons (including the April Fools Half Marathon in Atlantic City, pictured left). Tim’s regular routine is typically a mix of 5-7 mile runs, often through Meadow Ridge. Tim is typically an afternoon runner and likes to break up his busy day with some exercise to clear his head. The Covid-19 pandemic accelerated his running performances this year, “Honestly, it’s Covid. I don’t commute anymore so I have so much more extra time. Running is the ultimate antidote to staring at screens all day."

On a personal note, he recently moved to Rumson this past Summer along with his wife and two girls (3 years and 4 months-old). He works in IT security, when he isn’t flying through Meadow Ridge. When he isn’t carving up miles, he follows his other passion as he loves carving up the slopes, snowboarding in places around the East Coast, the Rockies and recently on an amazing trip to ride Europe with his father-in-law.

Tim is encouraging to other running residents offering some sound advice, “It’s all a battle against yourself. It’s an exploration of your mind & body. Creating that synergy between the two -- is really magical."

He lights up when he talks about the sport, certainly not hiding his passion and enthusiasm for running.

2022 Looks promising for the modest Blommestein as he plans to continue his consistent running throughout the area. A few half marathons including another 13.1 Princeton Half and possible another NYC Marathon are also on his list.

Although the Rumson 100 Mile Club is very prestigious, it is certainly not exclusive. The Rumson 100 Mile Club welcomes all members, you just have to earn your way in. All you need to do is enjoy our parks, track your miles (via app or on paper) and show us at the Rec Dept. More information is available at https://www.rumsonrecreation.org/100mileclub & you can join our group on Strava @RumsonRec.
